I used to decorate cakes as a hobby and I learned to keep that shit secret except from the people I genuinely love and care for… I’d even lie sometimes and say I bought it when I actually made it when I brought it in for a work party or something. I didn’t used to have a much of a spine and felt bad saying no but more and more people kept asking for cakes and not even offering to pay the full cost of just the ingredients let alone anything for my hours of labor. So when I moved states I was super careful to not let any causal acquaintances find out what I could do. People can be so unbelievably entitled! I’m better at saying no now, but it’s way easier to just not let it come out at all and avoid the asking/demanding/begging. Good for you for respecting yourself and saying no to her. It’s not fun when it starts being an expectation instead of just a nice gesture.
