Political party Momentum has unveiled its slate of candidates for the 2026 General Election, confirming that it will contest all thirteen electoral districts.The party announced seven candidates who will each run on two districts, giving Momentum nationwide representation in the upcoming election.The candidates include academics, scientists, entrepreneurs and activists, with the party saying they are united by commitments to good governance, environmental protection and economic justice.The announced candidates are:Billy McBee – Districts 1 and 6Dr Matthew Agius – Districts 2 and 8Mark Camilleri Gambin – Districts 3 and 11Dr Alastair Farrugia – Districts 4 and 5Prof Pierre Schembri-Wismayer – Districts 7 and 10Prof Arnold Cassola – Districts 9 and 10Carmel Asciak – Districts 12 and 13Arnold Cassola said a significant portion of Malta’s electorate feels politically unrepresented and is looking for an alternative to the two major parties.He described the candidates as people from professional backgrounds who are stepping forward because they believe the country deserves better governance and a stronger vision for the future.Momentum said its campaign message for the election will focus on “Bidla ta’ Vera”, a real change beyond the traditional two-party system.The announcement marks one of the clearest signs yet that smaller parties are preparing to challenge the status quo in the next general election.•
