South African xenophobia movement is rooted in pure tribalism

My opinion on the xenophobic movement in south africa is that, its basically tribalism. Since there are 9 official african languages ( [Zulu, Xhosa, Swati, Ndebele], [Sotho, Tswana, Pedi], Tsonga, Venda) and the main languages of our neighbors Lesotho , Swaziland and Botswana are the majority in south africa , they tend to be explicitly exempted from the hatred , I am not saying they might not be targeted but , Tsonga people who are more related to Shangaani people from Mozambique and Zimbabwe, same applies to Venda people , less related to the other 7 groups, basically a Tsonga and a Venda person who is 100% south africans (whatever that means) is also likely to be targeted. submitted by /u/tomatomatsu [link] [comments]
