The first party survey of Malta’s 2026 General Election campaign has landed, and it points to a strong lead for the Labour Party.The poll, carried out by Sagalytics between 23rd and 29th April of this year, surveyed 1,200 people aged 16 and over through telephone and mobile interviews. It reported a 95% confidence level with a ±2.8% confidence interval.Respondents were asked: “In the next general election, which party will you vote for?”The raw responses were:47.9% said Labour Party36.9% said Nationalist Party2.6% said ADPD or other parties12.6% remained undecidedAfter applying what was described as a scientific model to those who refused to answer, the projected final result was:PL 53.2%PN 43.1%3.7% ADPD or other partiesGap Could Range Between 9% And 11%Because of the amount of undecided voters, the survey said the final margin could vary between 9% and 11%.Assuming turnout of around 80%, and based on several undecided voter scenarios, the projected gap was calculated at between 26,000 and 30,000 votes in favour of Labour.That would place the average lead at around 28,000 votes for the Labour Party.With the campaign officially underway, this is the first major indication of where Malta’s political race currently stands.Do you think these statistics reflect reality?Media credits to Vincent Marmara•
