So Jake from accounting mentioned a few weeks ago he was moving to a new place, kind of offhand, and I said "oh if you need help with the truck let me know." I genuinely meant it, I have a pickup and I don't mind helping people move, I've done it for friends before. He texted me Thursday to confirm for Saturday morning. Fine. I show up at 9am with coffee for both of us, ready to help. First thing he says is "oh perfect, so I also need to stop by my storage unit across town and grab some stuff, shouldn't take long." Okay, a little extra but fine. We get to the storage unit. It is not a little extra. There's a full couch, a treadmill that looks like it hasn't been used in years, about 40 boxes, and a disassembled bed frame. I'm looking at this and I said "Jake this is going to take multiple trips." He goes "yeah I figured we'd just stack it." We could not just stack it. We made three trips. The last one was just him, me, and a treadmill at 6pm that neither of us could lift properly up a narrow staircase. When we finally finished he said "I really appreciate it, I'll get you back somehow." No food, no gas money offered, nothing. I said it was fine because I'm a coward apparently. Anyway. Next time someone at work mentions moving I am suddenly very busy that weekend. submitted by /u/Prism_Rogue3 [link] [comments]
