Courtney Schlesinger has an infectious energy that radiates from inside and pours into everything she does, from hosting comedy shows and occasionally doing stand-up to running the popular Brazilian Court hotel in Palm Beach with her husband, Bobby. The tall blond may originally hail from Austin, Texas, but she considers the tony town her second home—and she’s the one to ask for recommendations, whether it’s a waterside bar with live music (Old Key Lime House) or the best pastries you’ll ever have outside of Europe (Aioli). Here, she shares more of her Floridian go-tos with ELLE.TRAVELCourtesy and Design by Leah Romeroo Bike — I love biking when I’m in Palm Beach. I’ll grab one of our electric bikes, tell my family I’m headed out to clear my mind, and somehow end up riding my way to Pucci. Luckily the basket’s big enough to fit an entire new outfit in! I think biking to Worth Avenue is how Palm Beachers exercise.o Boat — We have a 44-foot Italian yacht that is complimentary for our guests to use. The captain is amazing—a young veteran who’s so “by the book.” We couldn’t be more opposite and it’s so much fun—I feel very safe to be free out there! There’s so much to explore on the water, from the incredible mansions to JFK’s former presidential bunker at the Maritime Museum. And if you like snorkeling, you can take the yacht for a day at Peanut Island.o Walk — It’s the only time I feel I’m in Europe when I’m in the U.S. The small shops and restaurants are so easy to get lost in. I love the sculptures of children eating ice cream and playing leapfrog on Via Amore. My kids and I will go there to play, and then have tiramisu at Café Via Flora.STAYCourtesy and Design by Leah Romeroo The Brazilian Court — Of course I love staying at Brazilian Court—it was built to look and feel like a Mediterranean mansion, so you feel really at home here. Our guests are highly sophisticated and smart—meeting them and hearing their stories is what I love most. The hotel is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year, and there is so much history everywhere you look. The rooms are named after Old Hollywood who’ve stayed there—the Valentino suite overlooks the pool and is one of my favorites.o Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach — When we want to have lunch on the water with kids, we head to Seaway at The Four Seasons. I also love taking my girlfriends there and relaxing in their spa together. We used to own a hotel right next to the Four Seasons called The Ambassador (it was sold to Aman) and we would walk from there along the beach to The Four Seasons almost daily. I happened to have met my now best friend and her children on that beach, along with my dog walker! With a setting that beautiful, people are bound to be friendly and find connections.o Eau Resort & Spa — The Eau is great. We love the Nobu there and always go to the arcade for my kids while we’re waiting for sushi to be served. We never make it out of there without at least six rubber duckies.EATCourtesy and Design by Leah Romeroo Café Boulud — I’d be lying if I didn’t say I had Café Boulud at least twice a day, and often in bed. My 4-year-old daughter will wake up, look at me and say “room service buddies!” with a high five. She knows exactly how to order her lemon ricotta pancakes to the room. My husband and my son, however, find this behavior deplorable, and always go to the Café to eat. He grew up in Palm Beach and I grew up in Texas. We have our differences! Our chef, Daniel Boulud, is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and cares so wholeheartedly about his staff. He also cares about where the food comes from and how it gets to the table. I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life, but after hearing a story about him fishing himself for his own produce, I began eating fish at Café Boulud. It’s the only place I’ll eat meat!o Le Bilboquet Market — A short walk from our hotel is the newly opened Bilboquet Market. I love their Caprese sandwich. It’s rare to find gourmet food to go on the island, and this is perfect for something quick and delicious.o Tutto Mare — I just went to the newly opened Tutto Mare and loved the feeling they’ve created there. Big lounge sofas in the middle of tables and candles everywhere—it reminds me of the laid-back glamour of St. Barts. It’s refreshing to see Palm Beach embracing this sultry ambiance.SHOPCourtesy of The Brazilian Court Hotel and Design by Leah Romero//Getty Imageso Casa — I’ve been trying to “cure” my shopping addiction for a few years, and while I’ve made great strides—I’ve also realized it’s perfectly fine to shop as long as you really enjoy it. But all your mental training goes out the window in Palm Beach. We just opened our new boutique with Johanna Ortiz at the hotel, and I may never shop anywhere else. Everything is handmade and falls so beautifully on the body. There is something about a fashion house being led by a woman and mother that changes absolutely everything. My favorite piece right now is a shell leather halter top. These are pieces I’ll hand down to my children.o Il Papiro — Il Papiro is a luxury paper goods store, the only Florentine outpost in America. Everything feels so old-world in this town—it makes you want to start writing handwritten notes. If you could ever describe stationary as sumptuous, this would be it. My kids usually pass over their cards attached to their gifts, but when the card is from here they stare at it for at least a minute!o Worth Avenue — Mariko is a fun jewelry store I always take out-of-town guests to on Worth. As a Texan, I love big jewelry, and the size of their statement costume jewelry is something I can’t find anywhere else. They also have stunning Iradj Moini pieces I take back to my mom. Next door, Living with Ivey has clean, holistic products and makeup that really works. The owner, Ivey, grew up there and is very passionate about the curation. I’m happy to see the town leaning into this world and always trying to bring items like hers to our own spaces. They have the best shampoo and conditioner by InnerSense.EXPERIENCEDesign by Leah Romero//Getty Imageso Pan’s Garden — Pan’s Garden is a block from the hotel and filled with lush gardens, hundreds of native plants, and a pond. It’s open every day and the best spot to take in nature on your way to the shops.o The Royal Poinciana Plaza — You could spend all day at The Royal Poinciana Plaza. We always have lunch at Sant Ambroeus, a stop at Saint Laurent to see my favorite stylist Liv, acai bowls at Celis Produce, and I’m excited about Rosie Assoulin which just opened. And my kids love the freestanding fridge with bottomless ice pops and coloring books.o Welleby Park — If you have young kids, take a day trip to Welleby Park (about 40 minutes from Palm Beach), where they have the cutest scooter park inside a tiny town. On the way, stop at Willy’s Roadside Café for some healthy snacks. We also go on a miniature train ride in Tradewinds Park and stop by Butterfly World if we have time.
