The Disney Magical Express Program Revamp Just Got A Huge Update

The last morning of a Walt Disney World vacation is one of the more bittersweet experiences in the theme park travel calendar. You are tired in the best possible way, your feet have logged more steps than they typically see in a month, your phone is full of photos, and somewhere in the back of your mind, the transition from Disney magic back to regular life is already beginning. What makes that final morning genuinely stressful rather than just emotionally complicated is the logistics. Checking out of the resort, managing luggage, figuring out how to get to Orlando International Airport with everything you arrived with, plus whatever merchandise followed you home, and doing all of it in time to make a flight that does not care about your emotional state or how much you are going to miss the parks. Disney has been working on a solution to that specific problem through its Airport Luggage Transfer service, operated by BagCheck, which allows guests to drop their bags at their resort and skip the baggage claim process at the airport entirely. The service launched in April 2025 for Southwest Airlines departures only and has been expanding steadily ever since. Now Disney has taken the biggest step yet in making this perk accessible to a significantly larger portion of its guest base, adding American Airlines and United Airlines to the program and indicating that additional airlines could be added in the future.Credit: Orlando International Airport (MCO)What the Expanded Disney Service Now CoversWhen the Airport Luggage Transfer service first launched, it was available exclusively for Southwest Airlines flights, which covered a meaningful but limited portion of the travelers coming through Orlando International Airport. By November 2025, Disney expanded the service to include Southwest Airlines arrivals as well as departures, allowing guests to skip baggage claim entirely upon landing and head straight to their resort while their bags were delivered behind the scenes. The addition of American Airlines and United Airlines to the program is a significant expansion that brings two of the largest carriers operating out of MCO into the service, making the perk relevant to a considerably larger share of Disney World guests than the Southwest-only version ever could have reached. How the Arrival Process WorksFor guests flying into Orlando on American Airlines, United Airlines, or Southwest Airlines, the arrival process through the luggage transfer service begins before you ever board the plane. You need to register at enroll.bagcheck.com between five and 30 days before your flight, and you will need both your Disney Resorts Collection hotel confirmation number and your airline confirmation number to complete the registration. If you register more than seven days before your flight, luggage tags will be mailed to you. Register within seven days, and no tags will be sent, but your bags will still be delivered. On the day of travel, check in for your flight and drop your bags with your airline at the airport as you normally would. When you land at MCO, skip baggage claim entirely and head straight to your resort. Contact Luggage Assistance at your resort, either by phone or in person at the lobby, to collect your bags when you are ready. One practical note for guests with late arrivals: if your flight lands after 11:00 p.m., you can either collect your bags at MCO’s baggage claim or wait up to 4 hours for BagCheck to deliver them to your resort.Credit: Ed Aguila, Inside the MagicHow the Departure Process WorksThe departure side of the service is equally useful for guests who want to spend their final morning at the resort rather than deal with luggage at the airport. Starting 24 hours before your departure, check in for your flight online and pay any baggage fees through your airline’s app or website. Drop your bags at Luggage Assistance in the resort lobby at least 4 hours before your flight, and a valid photo ID is required. After arriving at the airport, proceed directly through security. Your bags will be waiting at baggage claim at your final destination. Luggage Assistance is available 24 hours a day, and Disney strongly encourages guests to drop off bags the night before their flight whenever possible to give the service the most comfortable processing window.Which Disney Resorts Are ParticipatingThe Airport Luggage Transfer service is currently available at Disney’s Value Resort hotels, which include Pop Century Resort, All-Star Movies Resort, All-Star Music Resort, All-Star Sports Resort, and Art of Animation Resort. Guests staying at Moderate or Deluxe Resort hotels who want to take advantage of the service can swap to a Value Resort for their final night of the stay to access the BagCheck service. That option adds a logistical step to the trip but may be worth considering for guests who prioritize a stress-free departure morning. Boarding passes must be ready before drop-off, as printing is not available at the resorts. If your flight is canceled, your bags will automatically be redirected to your new flight.Credit: Mike Liu, FlickrWhy This Disney Expansion MattersThe addition of American Airlines and United Airlines to the Airport Luggage Transfer program is the kind of quality-of-life expansion that does not generate the same excitement as a new attraction announcement but has a direct and meaningful impact on the actual experience of traveling to and from Walt Disney World. The final morning of a Disney vacation has always involved a logistical reality that the magic of the parks cannot fully insulate guests from, and a service that removes the baggage claim process from both ends of that travel equation is genuinely valuable for families and individuals who want to maximize their time at the resort and minimize the friction of departure day. With the program now indicating that additional airlines could be added in the future, the trajectory of this service suggests it will eventually cover the majority of guests flying through MCO, which is exactly the direction Disney should be moving with a perk this practically useful. The post The Disney Magical Express Program Revamp Just Got A Huge Update appeared first on Inside the Magic.
