The Labour Party has announced a new batch of election proposals, with one standout pledge set to interest history lovers and families alike, a free Heritage Malta passport for everyone. If implemented, Maltese and Gozitan residents would no longer need to pay entry fees to visit museums, heritage attractions and historic sites managed by Heritage Malta. The party said the move is aimed at encouraging more people to explore the country’s cultural landmarks while deepening appreciation for Malta’s history, identity and national heritage. The proposal formed part of a wider package focused on quality of life, mental health and education, with Labour also unveiling what it described as Malta’s first political Wellbeing Index.According to the party, the index would measure progress not just through money or economic growth, but through how much people’s lives are genuinely improving. Labour claimed its manifesto would lead to a more than 25% improvement in wellbeing for people in Malta and Gozo.Other proposals included free mental health check-ups with a psychologist of each person’s choice, as well as paid study leave for full-time workers starting from two days a year and rising to ten days depending on the level of study. With the campaign gaining momentum, Labour appears to be placing culture, wellbeing and everyday benefits at the centre of its pitch to voters. What do you think of this proposal?•
