The Labour Party is proposing a new pilot project that would give people across different age groups the chance to receive a free mental health check-up with a psychologist of their own choice.The measure forms part of a wider wellbeing-focused package announced by Labour, aimed at improving quality of life for people in Malta and Gozo.According to the party, the initiative is designed to make mental health support more accessible, while encouraging more people to prioritise their psychological wellbeing.The proposal sits within Labour’s broader plan to increase national wellbeing by 25%, using a new index that measures progress across 10 key areas of life. These include health, housing, education, income, environmental quality, social protection, work quality and personal wellbeing.The announcement comes as mental health continues to become a bigger national conversation, with growing calls for easier access to support services and early intervention.If implemented, the scheme could allow more people to check in on their mental health in the same way they would their physical health.What do you think of the proposal?•
