President Donald Trump says he will examine latest Iranian peace proposal while expressing skepticism, adding Iran has not “paid a big enough price” for the regime’s actions.By David Rosenberg, World Israel NewsPresident Donald Trump expressed skepticism over the weekend regarding the prospects for reaching a deal with Iran on the basis of the Islamic Republic’s latest peace proposal, but added that he will review the offer nonetheless. On Friday, Iranian state media outlets reported that Tehran had submitted a 14-point proposal to the United States, via Pakistan.According to a Pakistani official involved in mediating talks between the US and Iran, Islamabad received the document late on Thursday, and transmitted it to the Trump administration shortly thereafter. The Wall Street Journal published a report on Friday citing officials who said that the new Iranian proposal softened some key demands, including dropping the requirement that the US lift its naval blockade as a precondition for nuclear talks. However, the new plan still calls for the US to commit to refraining from future strikes at the outset of negotiations, and to begin winding down its naval blockade once talks commence. On Friday, Trump told reporters he was not impressed by Iran’s latest proposal.“They want to make a deal, but I’m not satisfied with it,” Trump told reporters in Washington. “They’ve made strides, but I’m not sure if they ever get there.”“They’re asking for things that I can’t agree to.”On Saturday, Trump told reporters just before he boarded Air Force One that renewed strikes on Iran are a “possibility.”“I’ll let you know about it later,” Trump said when asked how he will respond to Iran’s new offer. “They’re going to give me the exact wording now.”“If they misbehave, if they do something bad, but right now, we’ll see,” Trump said when asked whether the US could resume its attacks on the Islamic Republic. “But it’s a possibility that could happen, certainly.”Shortly afterward, Trump posted a comment to his Truth Social account, emphasizing that the new proposal was unlikely to reboot stalled talks.“I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”The post Trump: Iran hasn’t paid high enough price, resuming war ‘a possibility’ appeared first on World Israel News.
