The Padel Club in Stretford's Trafford Park ran a star-studded tournament this weekend, hosted by Jason Manford.The Jason Manford Academy has been partnering with local schools around the country as part of its ongoing initiative to promote physical activity among children and introduce them to the fast-growing sport.Charlotte Gilley, one of the trustees of the Jason Manford Padel Academy said: "We've done this event today to raise money to help disadvantaged kids get into padel, supporting the sessions for next year."We were hoping for £100k, but we haven't done the auction yet or the raffle, so I think we're at about £65k. We've got a lot of sponsors coming together to make the event work, so we're very very pleased."Alongside Jason Manford as host, guests competing in the games included Ryan Giggs, Angry Ginge, Aitch, Alan Halsall, Toni Duggan and Dion Dublin.The celebrities paired up with pupils to compete in fifteen-minute doubles matches, alongside accuracy-testing prize games and strength tests. "Everyone's been amazing, all the celebrities that have come and given their time up has been amazing," Charlotte added.
