Kingmakers, full strength teams and living the dream

Update to table of doom Arsenal 73 points Max 85 Fixtures: Fulham (H), West Ham (A), Burnley (H), Crystal Palace (A) Man City 70 points Max 85 Fixtures: Everton (A), Brentford (H), Crystal Palace (H), Bournemouth (A) Aston Villa (H) Can we win BigEars finally? Kingmakers at the Palace So yes, the Table of Doom is almost over. There are 2 teams left standing, almost in the same position. Technically, Man Utd could catch up with Arsenal but even if they won all and Arsenal lost all they would have to make up an extra 24 goals from 4 matches. Naw! Utd could catch City though if they won all and City lost all bar one which they drew, but do not put any money on that, it’s never going to happen. Will Palace crown us kings? Palace are the kingmakers, maybe, as they play both. The Conference League final, should they reach it, is very close to our last game. For sure Palace will play a weakened team whereas there are no crucial matches near the City game. That might be in our favour if it comes down to the last game. Certainly City have the toughest schedule, but they are also capable of winning all. I definitely feel that if a team wins all, that will be enough. Both won’t. But it could easily come down to a final match with both teams playing against weakened teams as Aston Villa are hoping to make the Europa League Final and for sure will play a weakened team in that scenario. One feels that Villa have stronger reserves than Palace, though. We must play full strength teams City and Arsenal (assuming we defeat Athletico) will have to choose full strength teams for their final 6 matches unless one team drops enough points before the finish. It will be tough on both teams if both keep winning. Injuries may yet play a vital part as will mentality. A lot has been said about City’s mentality but a lot of their players were not there for their last title win and Aguero and De Bruyne, for example are gone, along with others. Pep knows how to win, for sure. But their fixture list is more challenging and that may be a benefit to them as they will be up for all matches. We are playing 2 teams from the bottom and Arteta seems to take chances for these type of matches. Surely he cannot afford to do that now? The Europa League final could also play a role We are waiting, we are hoping, and we know we can do it, if we play well. What I think we badly need now is a statement win, a 3 or 4 goal thrashing to get the juices flowing, breed confidence and a touch of swagger and arrogance. Fulham at the weekend would be a great time for such a blast as City travel to the Hill Dickenson Stadium on Monday. Yes, our game is sandwiched between critical Champions League games and sometimes we struggle after such matches but if, this time, we come with all guns firing and have the fans celebrating a terrific win with a nicely increased goal difference, then City will go to Everton with the pressure of falling six points behind and trying to score lots of goals. David Moyes could deliver a psychological blow to Pep Guardiola Living the Dream And they will have to wait 2 days with all that playing on their minds. David Moyes could do us a great favour. Will the Conference League play a role for us? This weekend, Labour weekend, may just be the time when all our hard work finally pays dividends. Fulham may be something of an Arsenal lite but we have to be Arsenal heavy, the real one and show why our former players are no longer playing for us. Win and win well could be the key to our dreams. So c’mon the Arse! It is for such times we were all hoping for a few years ago. So let’s enjoy them. Top of the league and in a good position for our second Champions League Final. And it could all get better.
