PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty and Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto are all one win away from ensuring a medal for themselves as they prepare for stern tests in the quarterfinals of their respective disciplines. Sindhu takes on Indonesia’s rising talent Putri Kusuma Wardani in a tricky test. For Satwik-Chirag, it’s their old foes Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia, just over a year after losing against them at the Paris Olympics, also in the quarterfinals. The day begins with another Malaysian test with Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto facing world No 4 Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei.The headline result of the round of 16 was Sindhu’s massive win – and an impressive performance to boot – against world No 2 Wang Zhi Yi of China. The day started with Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto pulling off a big upset – their biggest win as a pair yet – by defeating Hong Kong world number 5 pairing of Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet 19-21 21-12 21-15 in a 63-minute battle to storm into the quarterfinals.
