Irony as Kavule Ignores Flavia Kalule Advice on Lord Councillor Positions

Wait 5 sec.

By Mulengera ReportersFor some reason, NUP Women’s League Chairperson Flavia Kalule Nabagabe doesn’t like Ms Doreen Kaija who heads the Party’s Leadership Training School based at Kamwokya. In her capacity as women league head, Nabagabe (who is also Kasanda woman MP) was consulted in writing to render her advice on several races involving women. One of these was that of Nakawa East where Ms Kaija was in contention. In her report, Nabagabe (who is renowned for being uncomfortable with vibrant younger women cadres in NUP) strongly advised against Ms Kaija and recommended someone else. Her argument was that there was need for NUP to consider more high-profile women for such service delivery platforms. Having found no value in her advice, the party decision-making bureaucracy favoured Ms Kaija who will be carrying its flag for the female Lord Councillor position for Nakawa East. Yet that wasn’t all. In Makindye III, Nabagabe had advised against Dr. Juliet Nalukwago in favour of someone else but still the Elections Management Committee didn’t see sense in her objections-and ended up fronting Nalukwago. In Kawempe, her advice against Shamim Nambasa, Marion Kirabo and Nusifa Nakato (Seya Nasser Sebaggala’s widow) was equally disregarded and the trio were given party cards.
