Not just thrift stores, but in my area there are places specifically for adults re-joining the workforce- “dressier” business clothes to wear to job interviews, regular business attire, “business casual” stuff, etc. Most of the stuff is free, and they even have shoes, purses, and other accessories. The community understands the challenges faced by moms going back to work, people who have recently gotten out of jail, whatever circumstances folks might come from. FWIW, in the Spring, these stores also give away prom gowns and accessories to teens. Sometimes, volunteers are there doing hair and makeup. People really do care about their neighbors, and want to help any way they can. OK… maybe not by fulfilling someone’s expensive Wish List…
