People can now track road-sweeping machines in real time on MCD portal

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has now made this possible by giving people access to a live-tracking link found on the MCD portal.Stating that people can now track road-sweeping machines in real time, officials said that the initiative aims to enhance transparency, encourage public participation and ensure accountability.Earlier, only the Deputy Commissioners of each zone could monitor the machines.There are 52 Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines (MRSMs) in the city that can collectively clean around 1,600 km of roads, of over 60 feet in width, each day.These machines, which operate daily from 10pm to 6am — except on Sundays and Gazetted holidays — also help control dust pollution. At seven each, the Central and the South zones of the city have the highest number of such machines.MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar said that the move marks a step forward in leveraging technology for better civic management. “Through this initiative, MCD is ensuring that our citizens are informed and empowered. The real-time tracking feature not only promotes accountability but also builds trust between the civic body and the people it serves,” he added.The MCD portal provides all the details of these machines, including their numbers, zones in which they are plying, routes, scheduled start and end points.
