As the United States enters its Labor Day weekend, a new report out of the Sunshine State could signal the end of a negative trend for the Walt Disney World Resort.Credit: Inside the MagicCrowd levels for the Labor Day weekend have been shockingly low in 2021, 2022, 2023, and last year in 2024. Unlike Easter, spring break, Christmas, and New Year, Labor Day has historically had lower footfall across the Walt Disney World Resort. However, 2025 could break that pattern, with Orlando International Airport reporting an uptick to mark the end of the summer travel season.“The unofficial end of the summer travel season is wrapping up at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and traffic is expected to increase slightly compared to last year’s record levels,” a press release from the popular airport reads.Credit: Orlando International Airport“The Labor Day forecast calls for an increase of approximately 3 percent during the six-day period,” the announcement adds. “In total, nearly 891,000 travelers are expected to use MCO during the holiday period, with Friday, August 29, expected to be the busiest day with 161,000-plus passengers.”Of course, not all of these passengers passing through MCO are destined for the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, but it gives a good idea of the tourism level across the holiday weekend period. That said, regardless of the historic low attendance over Labor Day, multiple other factors are currently at play within the Central Florida resort’s 30,000 acres. Credit: Disney From the overhaul of Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland—the latest update removing the Rivers of America boat track—to the retheme of DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the Grand Avenue in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, change is afoot at Disney World, leaving some questioning whether to postpone their vacations. Not only that, but contention continues to grow regarding the rising costs of a Disney World trip. With variable pricing on its costly Lightning Lane Multi and Single Passes and increases in ticket admission, dining, and merchandise, Disney World is outpricing many of its potential guests.Credit: Inside the MagicGuests who are visiting the parks this weekend will be able to get one of the earliest looks at this year’s International Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT theme park. The annual event commenced on August 28 and runs through November 22. The Food & Wine Festival is one of EPCOT’s most popular yearly offerings. Note, though, that guests visiting EPCOT won’t be able to experience the park’s iconic attraction, Spaceship Earth, as the ride closed for refurbishment earlier this week. How do you find the Walt Disney World Resort during Labor Day weekend?
