The news came as such a shock that many fans, media members, and NBA players thought that the ESPN senior insider had been hacked – nobody could quite believe it. Charania later admitted that his hands were shaking before dropping the tweet that broke the sporting metaverse.Once the terms of the trade were revealed, though, Mavericks fans went into a full meltdown, with it only taking Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick to tempt general manager Nico Harrison to finalize the deal. An onslaught of abuse began being fired his way, but Harrison stood pat on his decision to trade away a generational talent, despite the 26-year-old Slovenian having virtually single-handedly led the Mavs to the 2024 NBA Finals just the season prior. “I believe that defense wins championships,” Harrison told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon in February. “I believe that getting an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We’re built to win now and in the future.”Davis may be a 10-time All-Star, but the 32-year-old has seen his career plagued by injuries over the last few years and he went down on debut and wound up suiting up just nine times for Dallas that season.With Mavs fans still reeling from losing Doncic just six months ago, they have now been dealt a double-blow with the news that Cowboys edge Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers.Not only did Dallas lose a player who is undoubtedly on a Hall of Fame trajectory, but they bolstered an NFC rival in the process.Now Dallas fans have to contend with the loss of star pass rusher ParsonsGettyAdd to that Jerry Jones arguably didn’t even maximise his trade value, receiving just Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks. Parsons, who is only just entering his prime, has played just four seasons in the NFL, and has been named a Pro Bowler on all four occasions. Their reward for having such a poor 2024 campaign was to draft Paige Bueckers, who was coming off the back of just having won the NCAA National Championship with the UConn Huskies. Since her arrival, Bueckers has been a rose among a roster of thorns, with the rookie having led the team in points per game (18.9), assists (5.4) and steals (1.6).In response to the news of the Parsons trade, fans were quick to react about other Dallas sports stars. “Protect Paige Bueckers,” one user wrote on X, which prompted a comment from another user which said, “And Cooper Flagg.
