Sources said, “Incriminating evidence was retrieved and statements of key persons were recorded, which confirmed the tax evasion by not declaring the online money gaming supply in GST returns.”The Ahmedabad Zonal Unit of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has detected tax evasion amounting to Rs 140 crore by a firm involved in financial transactions of proceeds obtained through Real Money Online Gaming.Based on input shared by DGGI Headquarters and further developed by officers of the DGGI Gandhidham Regional Unit in Kutch, transactions by 36 bank accounts and payment gateways were analysed, sources said.Open source intelligence tools were used to identify key persons involved and search operations were carried out on August 25 and 26 at six locations in Delhi, including the principal place of business and residential premises of key persons associated with the company, they added.Sources said, “Incriminating evidence was retrieved and statements of key persons were recorded, which confirmed the tax evasion by not declaring the online money gaming supply in GST returns.”The DGGI recovered Rs 10.6 crore as voluntary payment by the company. Meanwhile, all 36 bank accounts involved in the transactions were attached by the agency. So far, no arrests have been made in the case.Subsequent searches were conducted on the premises of a travel and hotel ticket booking company, which appeared the ultimate beneficiary through which funds were being siphoned off out of India.Sources said that investigation has allegedly revealed the involvement of Chinese nationals operating from Singapore and China with active collaboration with some Indian nationals.Story continues below this adThe Lok Sabha passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, on August 20.
