A lot is happening at Walt Disney World right now, but not everyone is excited by these changes. However, several other locations and attractions have already closed in Walt Disney World.The closure of Magic Kingdom’s Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Liberty Square Riverboat was a big blow to both longtime fans and newcomers alike. The puppets were even the stars for their own 3D/4D theater show, Muppet*Vision 3D.Alongside theatrical antics, guests could sit down for a nice hot pizza at PizzeRizzo or enjoy an Italian meal at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano.All of the above is now closed, marking a huge turning point for Hollywood Studios and Walt Disney World. This wish is (partially) coming true, with the main attraction of Magic Kingdom’s new Piston Peak area set to mirror Disneyland’s popular racing ride.This isn’t the only major upgrade Disney World is getting in terms of thrill rides. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a new roller coaster for the park’s Monstropolis expansion. The attraction will be a suspended roller coaster, a first for Walt Disney World.Riders will fly high above the interior of the Monsters Inc. energy building, encountering all kinds of characters and themed scenes along the way.Significant changes are happening at Disneyland in California, too. The theme park resort is set to build a new Avatar-themed area and add several new Marvel attractions.It’s definitely an uncertain time for Disney, though it’s also an incredibly exciting one. While classic attractions may have closed, Disney is giving some of its most iconic rides some much-needed TLC.Disney World closed down its Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin ride earlier this year for a beefy remodel of the attraction. Once the ride reopens, it will feature new ride vehicles and updated effects, such as better laser guns.Disney is also renovating Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a staple of the Magic Kingdom.
