Late on Friday night at Paris 2025, after defeating Malaysia’s two-time Olympic medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the quarterfinals in Paris, they assured themselves of a podium finish in Paris. They have also guaranteed that India’s streak of winning at least one medal at the tournament starting with the 2011 edition will continue. This will be the second medal for the pairing after their bronze back in 2022.Satwik-Chirag will now face the 11th-seeded Chinese pair, Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi in the semifinals. Satwik-Chirag won the only previous meeting against Chen-Liu, back in June last year at the Thailand Open. The match is expected to start around 12.30 am IST. “Yang-Yi are not underdogs at all. In semifinals, no underdogs,” reiterated Satwik. Chirag agreed. “We will approach it just like any other match we played. One match at a time. They are a good formidable pair, we’ve played against them before,” he told BWF.Story continues below this adIn the quarterfinal, Satwik-Chirag beat nemeses Chia-Soh in two games with a scoreline of 21-12 and 21-19 in just 43 minutes. Against their old foes, Satwik-Chirag delivered a commanding performance, outplaying their opponents in straight games 21-12, 21-19 in a 43-minute clash to storm into the semifinals. It is only Satwik-Chirag who has made it this far in the competition. And Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto went down to Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei in straight games 15-21, 13-21 in just 37 minutes. Sindhu was on the verge of creating history as a win would have guaranteed a historic sixth World Championships medal for her.
