Even though the BJP units of other cities staged full-scale protests, burning effigies of Gandhi in most places, the Vadodara city police outsmarted the BJP leaders as two police personnel managed to take the effigy, and run away with it before it could be set on fire. The BJP leaders of the city– putting up a united front despite the alleged cold war between factions — chanted slogans against Gandhi and dispersed.Naming a roadA stretch of road in Jodhpur ward was named after Pinakin, the late son of Gujarat University’s former Pro Vice Chancellor and writer Dr Chandrakant Mehta on Saturday at an event attended by Rajya Sabha MP Narhari Amin, Vejalpur MLA Amit Thaker, top Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation office bearers and others. Pinakin was a senior scientist at ISRO, according to a release.
