A group of Border Security Force personnel took shelter at Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Dera Baba Nanak, saturday after their residential quarters were affected by floods. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami met the troops at the shrine.“These soldiers are on duty to protect the country, but their own residential facilities have been affected by floods. It is the government’s duty to support every citizen in such a situation, but here it seems even the soldiers are not being taken care of,” said Dhami. He said the SGPC would ensure necessary arrangements for the soldiers.Dhami also visited flood-affected villages in Ramdas and Dera Baba Nanak areas, where SGPC has been running langar and distributing relief material. “From Sri Guru Ramdas Ji Langar, we have sent 150 quintals of flour, 30 quintals of pulses, 5,000 boxes of water, and other essentials to the affected areas,” he said.Dhami alleged that the government had not provided boats or support for relief efforts despite repeated requests. “Many areas remain inaccessible. If the administration provides boats, SGPC will deliver relief material to these places. If required, SGPC will arrange its own boats in the coming days,” he said.He added that a committee will be formed to survey affected areas and submit a report so that further assistance can be planned. He appealed to people in need to contact nearby gurdwaras for help.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:BSF personnelPunjab Floods
