Kolkata | August 31, 2025 04:25 AM IST 1 min readAn orange alert has been issued for Jalpaiguri which is likely to receive very heavy rainfall of 7–20 cm (Archive)The IMD on Saturday issued a yellow alert for north and south Bengal districts for Sunday due to the influence of an active monsoon trough stretching from northwest India to the Bay of Bengal.North Bengal districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, are under a yellow alert with possibility of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.“Possibility of landslides in hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, avoid movement in waterlogging and landslide prone areas,” IMD said.A yellow alert has also been issued for all districts, including Puraba Medinipur, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia, Kolkata and Bardhaman.
