Written by Debraj DebNovember 3, 2025 11:00 PM IST 2 min readOn October 30, one Rajib Dasgupta, 42, was arrested for his alleged link to the case.The Tripura Police Monday said they have recently arrested two drug kingpins in connection with the seizure of banned cough syrup worth Rs 2 crore from an interstate goods train in Jirania last month.A joint team of the Tripura Police, Assam Rifles, Government Railway Police (GRP), Special Task Force (STF), and the Customs Department had seized the consignment containing 1,07,800 bottles of the banned Eskuf cough syrup.The arrested persons, identified as Arun Kumar Ghosh, 58, and Himanshu Jha, 32, were arrested in Kolkata and Delhi, respectively, by the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Tripura Police Crime Branch.A police officer said Ghosh and Jha would be brought to Agartala on transit remand and produced before the court.On October 30, one Rajib Dasgupta, 42, was arrested for his alleged link to the case.Meanwhile, the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress Sunday started a mass letter campaign protesting against the transportation of narcotics on trains.“We began sending mass letters to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from Agartala.
