Though the girl’s body was not found, pieces of flesh and blood stains were found at some distance from the house, the officials added.According to the Forest Department officials, about two hours after the attack, they received information about the wolf ’s presence in Pradhanpurva village, located roughly four kilometres from Kandauli. After confirming the animal’s location using a drone, a team of forest personnel surrounded the area. When the wolf tried to flee, the officials opened fire and shot it dead.“The injured wolf ran away from the spot but we found the animal’s body at some distance away from the site of the incident,” said Ram Singh Yadav, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Bahraich.This marks the third confirmed killing of a wolf since the Forest Department launched its ongoing operation to track down the pack responsible for the attacks.Story continues below this adOfficials, however, suspect that at least one more wolf may still be roaming in the area. “The operation to track the wolf is still underway… it hasn’t been called off… Wolves usually don’t attack alone, and there is a possibility that another animal may be involved,” said Yadav.Earlier on October 15, three people were injured in a wolf attack.
