LACAG and LRA Call Out False Attacks on Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming as Globalist CCS Scheme UnravelsGuest post from LACAGThe Louisiana U.S. Senate race is about far more than one state—it has national implications for the future of the Republican Party and the fight against the globalist climate agenda threatening to destroy American sovereignty and bankrupt the United States. In what appears to be a weak attempt to tie Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming to the Carbon Capture Sequestration (CCS) racket, the Louisiana Freedom Caucus (LFC)—modelled after the Congressional House Freedom Caucus (CHFC) of which Fleming is a founding member—has cited Section 1109 of the American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015, a bill Fleming voted for while serving in Congress. The irony is glaring: the LFC is criticizing one of its own founders over one section of a bill that actually increased accountability for CCS projects. The criticism collapses under its own weight. The same vote being used to smear Fleming was cast not only by him but by every other founding member of the CHFC- Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, Ron DeSantis, Scott Garrett, Matt Salmon, Raul Labrador, and Mick Mulvaney, all staunch constitutional conservatives (one of whom has now banned CCS from the state of Florida as Governor). They did so because the bill was an important energy measure designed to restrain waste as well as strengthen America’s electrical grid and protect it against cyberattacks, terrorism, vandalism, and extreme weather. It was about protecting critical American infrastructure, not climate politics. The bill explicitly directed the Department of Energy to “report to Congress on methods to increase electric grid resilience with respect to all threats.” (Sec. 1113, Emphasis added). The LFC’s claim falls apart on the plain text of Section 1109, the full title of which is “Increased accountability with respect to carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration projects.” (Sec. 1109, Emphasis added). The provision didn’t appropriate a single dollar for CCS. It simply directed the Department of Energy to study CCS and report to Congress regarding the effects of any Obama initiated CCS programs that existed at the time. While there was the potential for funding of CCS, the suggestion that Fleming “voted specifically to allow then President Obama to increase funding for CCS” is simply wrong. And who were some of the people who stood against Fleming and the CHFC on this bill? Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Charles Rangel—the very faces of the radical left. If those names were on the opposing side, Louisiana voters can be sure Fleming was on the right one. Even more, Fleming and his Freedom Caucus allies defeated an amendment to the bill supported by these very Leftists that would have forced the Department of Energy to make “man-caused climate change” the cornerstone of national energy policy. This was nearly a decade ago, when Barack Obama was menacing America with climate alarmism and globalist power grabs. John Fleming was standing against this threat to American security and individual liberty long before most of his current critics knew it existed. If Louisiana voters want to know who actually helped bring the CCS racket to Louisiana, the record is clear, and you won’t find Fleming’s name in it.The same cannot be said of State Senator Blake Miguez, who is now being shielded by the Louisiana Freedom Caucus. Among the bills he supported was SB 353 in 2020 which codified the use of eminent domain for CCS pipelines and injection wells, giving corporations the power to seize private property. Then in 2023 he helped defeat HB 267 and HB 120, which would have protected the Lake Maurepas Swamp Area and Lake Pontchartrain from CCS injection projects against the will of local citizens who will be directly affected by it.Most recently, in the 2025 legislative session, we are not aware of any public statements made by Miguez in support of key anti-CCS bills supported by Louisiana citizens from across the state who packed the Capital as those bills were summarily killed in Committee by Republicans. To name only a few:– HB 4 by Rep. Chuck Owen, giving local communities the right to decide whether CCS projects could operate in their parishes;– HB 553 by Rep. Rodney Schamerhorn, which would have ended eminent domain for CCS pipelines;– HB 522 by Rep. Danny McCormick, which would have imposed a one-year moratorium on CCS development so that the serious potential consequences of CCS could be for the first time considered.– HB 601 by Rep. Brett Geymann, which would also have ended eminent domain for CCS pipelines. (This bill survived Committee on second hearing, only to die on the Republican dominated House Floor). The reason it is vital to know who really stands against CCS is simple, but deadly serious: CCS is the most shameless globalist grift involving the largest transfer of taxpayer money to corporate cronies in U.S. history.Without billions in taxpayer subsidies showered by Biden’s misnamed Inflation Reduction Act, CCS would fold like a cheap tent. America’s national debt now stands near $37 trillion, and is projected to explode to $50 trillion by 2035. CCS is an economic poison pill, the Cloward–Piven strategy in action: overwhelm the system, collapse it, and rebuild it under centralized, collectivist control.Further, CCS poses a significant risk to groundwater quality because injected CO2 can leech into the Chicot water aquifer to form carbonic acid, potentially contaminating the water supply of at least 15 Louisiana parishes. We simply must get this right. This is more than just a US Senate race, as important as that is. It is about whether one of Louisiana’s most powerful voices in Washington DC will protect our money, our property, our health, and our liberty from the biggest globalist scam in American history. John Fleming has publicly and repeatedly opposed CCS, while Miguez has alternately supported it and acquiesced to it, and who is yet to make a clear public statement on it.Louisiana is ground zero in this fight. And make no mistake, the outcome here will send a message across the country about whether our leaders will unapologetically protect Louisiana citizens from the CCS scam or surrender their interests at the altar of global tyranny.
