A former Walt Disney Imagineer took one look at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park’s newest attraction and bashed it for “woke” vibes “aimed squarely at children.”On November 7, 2025, the second-ever show will premiere inside the Tree of Life Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. After 27 years, the original attraction, It’s Tough To Be A Bug!, closed permanently earlier this year to make way for “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”. As with most new Walt Disney World Resort attractions, Disney Parks fans quickly took to social media to share their thoughts on the Tree of Life show. However, one insider opinion grabbed significant attention online.Credit: DisneyOver the weekend, retired Walt Disney Imagineer Jim Shull posted about “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” on X (formerly known as Twitter). In a now-deleted post, Shull, who spent 33 years at Disney, stated that he thought the show had a “woke” vibe. He also linked to his YouTube channel, but any videos related to the Tree of Life show appear to have been made private or deleted. The videos of the #Zootopia show in the #TreeofLife give off a ‘woke’ vibe and a show aimed squarely at children. But I haven’t seen that word used in any way other than incredibly offensive ones for years, so I’m taken aback,” @AliciaStella asked. “Am I to infer messages of togetherness are ‘woke,’ and also bad for children? Or is there more to this?”Look, I’m avoiding spoilers till I can see the show next week.
