The contest between the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers may not be a classic, but a stray beach ball may have injected some excitement into it at last. With the Packers leading 3-0 with 4:57 remaining in the second quarter and the Panthers bearing down on the end zone with a 1st & 10 from the 21-yard line, the wind at Lambeau Field blew a beach ball right into the line of scrimmage. If it’s an animal I get it but a beach ball bruh,” one fan highlighted, who wasn’t wrong. However, the fun was quickly quashed by a Packers staffer who burst the ball after being handed it by an NFL official – the no fun league strikes again, some would argue.Earlier in the contest, a melee ensued when the Panthers’ second-year quarterback Bryce Young appeared to be on the receiving end of a late hit as he ran out of bounds in the first quarter. Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was the player who administered the hit on the 5-foot-10 quarterback, which saw the Panthers sideline erupt and surround the 6-foot-2 defender. “That was really, really late,” FOX Sports announcer Adam Amin said. “He was almost off the white [sideline] he was almost so far out of bounds before Cooper hit him.”A brawl ensued after Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper appeared to take a late shot on Panthers QB Bryce Young as he ran out of boundsX/ @NFLonFOXThe hit by Cooper on Young was ruled in-bounds, meaning the penalty flag was picked upX/ @NFLonFOXA flag was initially thrown for a 15-yard penalty, but the officials reviewed the play and deemed that the hit took place in-bounds and picked it up.“You know what? They’re right,” Amin said as he admitted he had initially got the call wrong himself. “We caught that first replay late and just assumed.”The Panthers managed to get on the board before halftime after running back Rico Dowdle – who has had a breakout season thus far – rushed up the middle for a five-yard score to take a 7-3 lead. Packers kicker Brandon McManus’ 49-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds brought Green Bay back to within a point entering the second half of play.
