Trent Alexander-Arnold makes Liverpool celebration promise ahead of return in Champions League

Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed that he will not celebrate if he scores against Liverpool on Tuesday night.The Real Madrid defender is in line to make his return from injury against his former club. Alexander-Arnold has not featured for the Spanish giants since suffering a hamstring injury in September.However, he returned to the matchday squad for last weekend’s El Clasico victory over Barcelona.The 27-year-old was once again an unused substitute against Valencia on Saturday, however, he could come back into the first-team with midfielder Federico Valverde deputising at right-back with Dani Carvajal injured.Real Madrid’s Champions League clash at Anfield will be Alexander-Arnold’s first return to his boyhood club since leaving in June after 21 years on their books.Will Alexander-Arnold celebrate against Liverpool?Ahead of the match, he was asked if he would celebrate scoring against the Reds, to which he responded in an interview with Amazon Prime Video: “If I was to score, then no I wouldn’t celebrate to be honest.“It will be a big difference for me going into the away dressing room, warming up on the other side.“When I made the decision to move on, it was probably destined that at some point being here I’d play against Liverpool.”After coming through the Reds’ academy, Alexander-Arnold made 354 first-team appearances for the club.He also scored 23 goals and provided 92 assists across those matches.Meanwhile, last season’s Premier League title was his eighth trophy for the club having also won the Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Club World Cup.The Liverpool academy graduate won two Premier League titles during his time at the clubGettyHowever, he was booed by some supporters after announcing he would be leaving the club late in the season.Alexander-Arnold penned a six-year deal with Real Madrid after opting against extending his contract at Anfield.Discussing the reception he will receive from the home crowd this week, he said: “Whatever way I’m received is the decision of the fans.“I’ll always love the club, I’ll always be a fan of the club.
