Two darts players have been forced to take part in an extra Women’s Darts Federation World Championship qualifier after a major blunder.Mayumi Ouchi and Nina-Lech Musialska thought they had booked a spot in the tournament, which begins on November 28. But despite seemingly securing qualification through the World Masters in Budapest on Sunday, they have been impacted by an admin error.Ouchi and Musialska are going to have to play another match just to get into the first round after organisers miscalculated the final place being awarded from the race table. An additional player was mistakenly included in the women’s WDF World Championship draw, with Swedish player Maud Jansson invited as a seeded player instead of German Lisa Zollikofer. And rather than selecting just one of the pair, organisers opted to keep both of them in the tournament, increasing the total field of players to 25 from the expected 24. But because of that, the WDF have decided to hold a play-in match that Ouchi and Musialska will compete in.Jansson is through automatically, and with Zollikofer qualifying too, it means there is only one more available place. So, despite thinking they were already into the WDF World Championship, Japanese star Ouchi and Polish player Musialska will now face each other, with one of them missing out on the main tournament. They will still be appearing at Lakeside for the event though, as their play-in takes place on the first Friday of the schedule. The winner of the game will be taking on Priscilla Steenbergen.Despite the tough situation, all four players impacted will receive first-round prize money, guaranteeing a payout no matter what.Ouchi thought she’d successfully booked her spot in the tournamentAs did Musialska, but now only one will go through after the admin errorThe WDF’s deleted postThe World Darts Federation admitted their blunder on social media before going on to delete their post on X.According to dartsnews.com, they also disabled comments on a Facebook post of the draw due to negative reaction.“After the final qualifier in Budapest began, the WDF realised an error was made in calculating the final place awarded from the race table, with Maud Jansson being invited and included in the draw rather than Lisa Zollikofer,” the WDF wrote.“Once this error was discovered, the WDF elected to invite both players, taking the field for the women’s World Championship to 25.“Zollikofer will take the place of Qualifier 1 in the draw. Qualifier 2 will be determined by a play-in match on the first Friday of Lakeside between the two winners of the last-chance Budapest qualifier.“Jansson, Zollikofer and the two Budapest qualifiers are all guaranteed first-round prize money by the WDF.”View Tweet: https://t.co/EwsJzq8UbMWhen is the WDF World Championship? The WDF World Championship will take place from November 28 through to December 7.
