Raju immediately entered the tank to rescue his brother, but could not make it out (Representative image)Two brothers died on Monday afternoon after inhaling toxic fumes inside a septic tank at their house in Noida’s Chotpur Colony, police said. The victims, identified as Chandrabhan (40) and Raju (26), worked as carpenters in Khoda.According to the police, Chandrabhan accidentally fell into the septic tank after its lid gave way. Raju immediately entered the tank to rescue his brother, but could not make it out. Both brothers fell unconscious after inhaling toxic gas, said police.Their neighbour Hemant, a resident of Futri Kalan village in Bulandshahr, rushed to their aid and attempted to enter the tank. However, he too began feeling dizzy due to the toxic fumes inside and climbed out. Police said Hemant is currently under treatment at a hospital.After being informed about the incident, a team of officers from Sector 63 police station reached the spot. A fire ambulance was also arranged for the rescue operation. Officers said the floor of the tank had to be cut open to rescue the brothers.Both Chandrabhan and Raju were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival. Their bodies were later sent for a post-mortem.“A panchnama has been completed. Peace has been restored at the spot.
