Minister, MP extend support to Hosanagara residents’ demand for Assembly constituency status

Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, MP for Shivamogga B.Y. Raghavendra and other leaders have extended their support to the people of Hosanagara taluk, who have been demanding an Assembly constituency status.Mr. Bangarappa, Mr. Raghavendra and other leaders participated in the last leg of the 48-km long padayatra that concluded at Ripponpet in Hosanagara taluk on Monday.They walked along with the people in the march and took part in the public meeting.Mr. Bangarappa, who is also Minister in charge of Shivamogga district, stated that he was in favour of the people’s demand. The voice of the people should reach the people concerned. “When the delimitation of constituency begins, we will meet the commission representatives and place the demand on behalf of people of the taluk,” he said.Mr. Raghavendra said that the people of Hosangara taluk took out the padayatra demanding the Assembly constituency status. “It was a non-political protest. People from all parties and religious leaders participated in the protest. We should ensure their demand reaches State Assembly and Parliament. The Parliament is scheduled to meet between April 16 and 18. I will raise the issue in the right forum,” he said.Seers of various mutts, moulvis and others participated in the public meeting.
