Black-Type Analysis: Can Flushing Meadows Step Up In Red Rocks Stakes?

Wait 5 sec.

Sunday, Leopardstown, post time: 15:55, BALLYLINCH STUD RED ROCKS STAKES-G3, €42,000, 3yo, c/g, 7f 42yTField: Power Blue (Ire) (Space Blues {Ire}), Dorset (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Flushing Meadows (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Geryon (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Iron Lily (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Mumhan (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}), Redemption Road (GB) (Without Parole {GB}), The Publican's Son (Beau Liam), Thesecretadversary (Ire) (St Mark's Basilica {Fr}), Trojan Warrior (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Warsaw (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}).TDN Analysis: With both Gewan and Publish out of the 2,000 Guineas picture with different degrees of tragedy this week and Albert Einstein having muddied the waters on his seasonal return, the Newmarket Classic is now more open to one who can burst onto the scene via one of the trials. It could be that Aidan O'Brien is rethinking his Guineas plans and it is significant that he is running four here with Ryan Moore opting for one of the stable's forgotten horses in Flushing Meadows. Disappointing after his debut, it is worth remembering that he was the chosen one for the tried-and-tested Classic stepping stone of the Tyros Stakes and his starting price for his two defeats suggests he was held in the highest esteem. Given time to rebuild, he received a favourable mention at last month's Ballydoyle Press Day and could be a major springer in the ante-post market if putting it all together here. Wayne Lordan is on the six-furlong Curragh maiden winner Trojan Warrior, with the Goffs Million and G3 Killavullan Stakes winner Dorset seemingly down the pecking order along with the long-absent Warsaw. It is debatable whether the Phoenix Stakes winner Power Blue will stay even this far, while the Futurity and Beresford runner-up Geryon has the other problem as thus might represent too much of a speed test for him. Ryan Moore keeps the faith, with the yard's Composing on a retrieval mission having tailed off on her last three starts. When you win the Silver Flash and the Debutante for this operation, the expectation is that you are a Classic winner in waiting so her subsequent flops in the Moyglare and Fillies' Mile carried a degree of puzzlement. The G3 Weld Park Stakes winner Black Caviar Gold and G3 Anglesey Stakes winner Suzie Songs add depth to a competitive affair along with Amo's unbeaten Blanc De Blanc who has race-fitness on her side. [Tom Frary].Sunday, Leopardstown, post time: 16:55, P.W. MCGRATH MEMORIAL BALLYSAX STAKES-G3, €42,000, 3yo, 10fTField: Pierre Bonnard (Ire) (Camelot {GB}), Christmas Day (Ire) (Camelot {GB}), A Boy Named Susie (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Endorsement (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Italy (GB) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), James j Braddock (GB) (Zarak {Fr}), Shosholoza (Ire) (Australia {GB}), South Island (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Victory Tip (Ire) (Invincible Army {Ire}).TDN Analysis: Two proper Ballydoyle Camelot Derby candidates in Pierre Bonnard and Christmas Day line up, with the former carrying the maximum penalty for his Criterium de Saint-Cloud success at the expense of A Boy Named Susie. Christmas Day also beat that Donnacha O'Brien-trained runner-up in the G3 Eyrefield Stakes, so there is a distinct line of form between all three which will make post-race analysis easier to carry out. O'Brien and Sr and the two Juniors account for all bar one of the runners, with Joseph saddling the unexposed James J Braddock who was a six-length winner at The Curragh in November. Garavogue, Sweet Happiness and Alankar reported home third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in last year's test. 2026 group winner Dream Core could step up in a big way here, while the undefeated Lily Joie faces group company for the first time.Sunday, Dusseldorf, Germany, post time: 13:22, KALKMANN-FRUHJAHRS-MEILE-G3, €55,000, 4yo/up, 8fTField: Next Mine (Ger) (Dabirsim {Fr}), Best Lightning (Fr) (Sidestep {Aus}), Aigle Vaillant (Fr) (Wings Of Eagles {Ire}), Ice Max (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}), New Emerald (Ger) (Protectionist {Ger}), Switsch (Ger) (Millowitsch {Ger}), Uthred (Fr) (Persian King {Ire}), Colin The Brave (Ire) (Inns Of Court {Ire}).Sunday, ParisLongchamp, France, post time: 14:33, PRIX DE LA GROTTE-G3, €73,200, 3yo, f, 8fTField: Narissa (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}), Evolutionist (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Pierchic (GB) (Palace Pier {GB}), Anashkaya (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Kendelya (Fr) (Victor Ludorum {GB}), Ceramic (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Green Spirit (Kingman {GB}).TDN Analysis: Francis Graffard-trained TDN Rising Star Narissa was last seen hitting the board in October's G1 Prix Marcel Boussac and sets a high standard in the first of three Classic trials on the card. The trainer, who is also represented by Listed Prix Maurice Caillault third Anashkaya, has snagged the two most recent renewals, including with TDN Rising Star Zarigana last year. Forz Europe's G2 Debutante and G1 Fillies' Mile third Evolutionist rates a serious threat as does the Christopher Head-trained Marcel Boussac second Green Spirit. Of the remainder, Green Spirit's multiple Group-placed stablemate Ceramic makes most appeal. Last month's Listed Prix Omnium II victor Elastic will also sport the latter's Wertheimer colours. Nighttime has the measure of Godolphin's Komorebi, who seeks a record-extending 11th victory for Andre Fabre, on their running in last year's G3 Prix La Rochette, while Juddmonte's Francis Graffard trainee Regal Resolve registered a black-type breakthrough in October's Listed Prix Isonomy when last seen. Elastic's Christophe Ferland stablemate Lyneham makes his stakes debut here and is two-for-two after wins at Bordeaux and Chantilly. The Aga Khan Studs homebred was 1 1/2 lengths adrift of Saint Martin when runner-up in last month's Listed Prix Francois Mathet, with G3 Prix de Conde victor Waybreaker finishing back in fifth. Joseph O'Brien ships in G2 Golden Fleece runner-up and G1 Criterium International fourth Hardy Warrior, who returns off a wide-margin victory at Naas on seasonal debut. Stall Perlen's Saint-Cloud maiden winner Zaramix is an interesting contender in an open renewal.
