Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism minister Ian Borg has signalled support for introducing priority or guaranteed boarding for Gozitans using the fast ferry service, following concerns about overcrowding. This comes after the Labour Party congress in Gozo, Borg said the issue was raised by Sarah, a Gozitan teen, who pointed out that high demand from both locals and tourists is sometimes leaving residents unable to board.Borg acknowledged her concern, noting that while the fast ferry service has been a success, its popularity has created new challenges. He said the suggestion for priority access “makes sense” and indicated he does not see it as conflicting with his role as tourism minister. The minister, who previously worked on the fast ferry project during his time in transport, said the service’s strong uptake reflects its importance for connectivity between Gozo and Malta, but added that solutions may now be needed to ensure accessibility for Gozitan commuters. What do you think?•
