The Super Mario Bros. movie was a smash hit, earning $1.361 billion on a $100 million budget. The sequel pits Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach against Bowser Jr, who has kidnapped Peach’s sister, Rosalina. Critics are not fans of this film (42 per cent). They have complained about the overstuffed story, soulless plot, and uninspired visuals. But audiences seemingly disagree (90 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes). Critics and audiences were equally divided on the first movie (59 per cent critic score and 95 per cent audience rating).
