Wait 5 sec.

PSG and Liverpool go head-to-head in the Champions League quarter-finals this evening. The Parc des Princes is the stage for an epic European tie, as the champions of France and England meet in the last eight. Paris Saint-Germain start as favourites, but an out-of-form Liverpool will be eager to bounce back from recent woes.Ahead of the clash, we’ve picked our PSG and Liverpool Combined XI from players available for selection.’PSG vs Liverpool – Combined XI ahead of Champions League clashGoalkeeper: Giorgi Mamardashvili – LiverpoolIt’s a big night, and potentially run-in, for Giorgi Mamardashvili with Alisson out injured. The Georgian is a terrific shot-stopper and will hope to produce a performance that demonstrates he can be Liverpool’s long-term number one.PSG’s goalkeeping situation has been one area of weakness this season, with neither Matvey Safonov or Lucas Chevalier cemented as first choice.Right-back: Achraf Hakimi – PSGFrom an area of weakness to a great strength, the full-backs of PSG are arguably the world’s best in their positions. Achraf Hakimi has not hit last season’s heights due to injury and AFCON commitments, but the Moroccan is a flying machine. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Centre-back: Willian Pacho – PSGPart of a production line of exciting Ecuadorian talent, Pacho has evolved into an elite defender in Paris. The 24-year-old ranks in the top 1% of defenders across Europe’s top leagues for percentage of defensive duels won.Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk – LiverpoolThe critics are out in force for Virgil van Dijk after a poor performance at Manchester City continued a tough season. Van Dijk has been so good for so long that each error is scrutinised to a huge extent. The Dutch defender might be on the decline, but there’s enough in the tank to make this team. He is another who needs a big performance in Paris.Left-back: Nuno Mendes – PSGThe best left-back in the world, and it isn’t particularly close. Mendes is sound defensively and a marauding force of nature at the other end.Midfield: Vitinha – PSGA metronomic figure for Luis Enrique in midfield, Vitinha has saved his best for Europe this season. The Portugal international has scored six times in the Champions League, including a hat-trick against Tottenham. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Midfield: Joao Neves – PSGVitinha’s sidekick in midfield, Joao Neves, handled the jump from Benfica to PSG with ease. His debut season ended in a clean sweep of prizes as PSG claimed a quadruple. He was central to that success and, at 21, still has levels to go.Midfield: Dominik Szoboszlai – LiverpoolA shining light in an otherwise forgettable season for Liverpool. The Hungarian’s intensity has stood out like a sore thumb in Arne Slot’s side, who have so often looked pedestrian. Liverpool need Szoboszlai at his best over the two legs.Right-wing: Ousmane Dembele – PSGThe Ballon d’Or holder and the chief threat in a PSG forward line brimming with talent. Dembele’s season has been stop-start, but he’s proven his quality when available. He’s averaged a goal or assist every 69 minutes across Ligue 1 and the Champions League.Left-wing: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – PSGLiverpool considered an approach for Kvaratskhelia before his move to PSG and will perhaps be kicking themselves for not following through. The Georgian turbo-charged the club’s pursuit of the Champions League last season and has been a delight to watch in Paris. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Forward: Hugo Ekitike – LiverpoolThe one who got away for PSG? Hugo Ekitike was squeezed out of the club by their Galactico project, before his potential shone at Eintracht Frankfurt. He made a £69m move to Liverpool last summer and has scored 17 goals this season in an impressive introduction at Anfield.Read – PSG vs Liverpool: Luis Enrique refutes PSG favourites tagSee more – Five who played for both: PSG and LiverpoolFollow the Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubeThe post PSG vs Liverpool – Combined XI ahead of Champions League clash first appeared on The Football Faithful.
