Phil De Fries has accepted Eddie Hall’s call-out for a fight before the World’s Strongest Man retires from combat sports. However, De Fries believes Hall will come up short in his upcoming clash against Tommy Fury and gives ‘The Beast’ no chance if they were to meet in the cage.Hall fights Fury over six two-minute rounds at Manchester’s AO Arena in JuneGettyHall takes on Fury in Manchester on June 13 for a battle billed as ‘Beauty vs The Beast’ under the Misfits Boxing banner. The 38-year-old was offered the fight after angering Fury’s father, John, through an attempt to get Tyson Fury to face him in an MMA bout. After all, Hall and Fury were once good friends and have trained together in the past. But the pair were involved in a war of words this week at the press conference for their fight, as Fury threatened Hall with ‘two fights in fight week’ over the comments made about his dad. While Fury still holds ambitions of strengthening his career as a professional boxer, Hall isn’t looking to continue fighting beyond the next 18 months.Appearing on talkSPORT with Jim White and Simon Jordan this week, Hall explained that his ‘end goal is to fight someone big,’ specifically naming KSW heavyweight champion De Fries.Hall, who made a successful professional MMA debut last year under the KSW banner by stopping Mariusz Pudzianowski in less than 30 seconds, wants to go out with a bang against a world champion.Well, speaking to talkSPORT.com, De Fries said he’s more than happy to get it on.De Fries: Bring it on Eddie!“I’d absolutely love that, it’d be a ginormous fight, and I’d get lots of money for it,” De Fries, who makes his return at KSW 117 on April 18, said.“But I think Eddie Hall‘s got as much chance of beating me in MMA as I’ve got lifting one of those Atlas Stones on my mantelpiece.De Fries would love to fight Hall, but says ‘The Beast’ would have no chance against him in the cageKSW“I don’t fancy his chances, but I’ll do it. I like Eddie a lot, and he did well against Mariusz.“I thought Mariusz was going to beat him, I thought fair and square, Mariusz will beat him, but let’s do it, I’ll be happy as Larry.”De Fries is one of the most accomplished heavyweights in MMA ever, having defended his current title a whopping 13 times in the last seven years. The 39-year-old from Sunderland wants to be a world champion for ten years before hanging up the gloves, but is willing to face Hall under any circumstances.“We’ll even change the rules up,” De Fries added.“We’ll do cage boxing, or whatever, we’ll shorten the rounds or whatever, but if he wants to pop, I’m right here.Hall has named De Fries several times when discussing who he could face in his final boutKSW“People have said, ‘Oh, Eddie’s been saying this,’ but I’ve met Eddie, I like him, he hasn’t been disrespectful, I like Eddie a lot.“But I’d love to fight him, it’d be great, big, big, big, a lot of eyes on that one, it’d be good fun.“I’ll do anything, that’s a huge money fight for me, we could fight each other with two ducks in each hand or something… anything, any rules.”The outcome of Hall’s bout against Fury is unlikely to affect booking the former against De Fries. But the KSW heavyweight champion believes Fury’s experience in the ring will get him over the line.“I think Tommy will get it, he’s a boxer,” De Fries concluded, speaking on Fury vs Hall. “I know he’s not top ten or whatever, but he’s a professional boxer, he’s done his rounds.“He’ll avoid Eddie at first and then fire Eddie out a little bit, but you never know.“I thought Mariusz was going to beat Eddie. He might rush in there and get him.“But I think [Fury’s] a proper professional seasoned boxer and will be able to outbox most people who aren’t boxers.”De Fries defends his heavyweight title against Marcin Wojcik in Warszawa, Poland, next week.UFC ScheduleFor all the upcoming fights and results this year, check out talkSPORT.com’s UFC schedule.
