Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Attraction Returns to Magic Kingdom Weeks Ahead of Schedule

With just over a month to go until Big Thunder Mountain Railroad finally reopens at Magic Kingdom Park, part of the Frontierland roller coaster is already functional. This comes days after Walt Disney Imagineers were spotted testing the geyser features on the shuttered attraction.Big Thunder Mountain Railroad OverhaulBig Thunder Mountain Railroad closed in January 2025 for its most intensive overhaul ever. Walt Disney World Resort initially shared that the Magic Kingdom Park ride would reopen with “new magic” sometime in 2026, and has gradually released more information about the reimagining over the last 15 months. The outlet shared this photo of the structure on Facebook, explaining that it had also recently been repainted:It’s unclear whether the steam effect will remain on until Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens in May, or if Walt Disney Imagineers were just testing it this morning.
