After a turbulent winter and early spring, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park at the Walt Disney World Resort has announced an indefinite closure.Credit: DisneySince reopening last year after Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park’s seasonal shutdown, Blizzard Beach has suffered several extended closures due to weather. From lengthy closures caused by intense cold fronts to surprise Spring Break shutdowns, guests have faced a rocky time trying to access the water park. Now, another issue has arisen in the form of one of Blizzard Beach’s main attractions. According to the official Walt Disney World Resort website, the Slush Gusher waterslide is unavailable. While times are listed for this week, a notice posted on the attractions landing page reads, “Although Slush Gusher is temporarily unavailable, you can enjoy other attractions at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.”There has been no confirmation as to what is the cause of the Slush Gusher closure, nor when the attraction will be ready to welcome guests once again. Despite the closure, there is still plenty to do at Blizzard Beach, including Tike’s Peak, Toboggan Racers, and the iconic Summit Plummet, which Disney World describes as “one of the tallest, fastest free-fall body slides in the world.”Credit: DisneySoon, Disney World guests won’t have just one water theme park to choose from, as the six-park summer returns this May. Like last year, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will both be open through September, giving Disney World a full house of open theme parks.Guests had gotten used to the post-pandemic measure of only having one water park open at a time, but that all changed last year when, the day before Universal Orlando Resort opened its Epic Universe theme park, Disney opened the gates to all its parks for the summer. What do you think is happening to the Slush Gusher attraction at Blizzard Beach?
