President Donald Trump declared a “Golden Age of the Middle East!!!” could be on the horizon after striking a last-minute deal to halt his planned military action against Iran, just before his 8:00 PM deadline on Tuesday night. This came after a period of intense tension that pushed the region to the brink of a wider war. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was credited for his crucial role in brokering the agreement. According to Mediate, Trump posted on Truth Social just after midnight on Wednesday, saying it had been a “big day for World Peace!” and that all countries “have had enough” of the conflict. This followed 40 days of relentless US-Israeli attacks that had caused widespread disruption across the Middle East. Trump also stated that the United States will be “hangin’ around” the Strait of Hormuz to ensure things go smoothly, and that “big money” is to be made. Trump’s full post read: “A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz. There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. However, Trump insisted that Iran’s nuclear stockpile “will be perfectly taken care of, or I wouldn’t have settled,” and suggested the leaked 10-point plan may differ from what is actually being negotiated. Despite the deal, Iran still fired missiles at Israel minutes after the ceasefire was announced. While Iranians celebrated the ceasefire as a victory over America, Israel made clear it would not extend the truce to its fighting with Hezbollah or its ongoing invasion of southern Lebanon, contradicting Pakistani PM Sharif’s claims that Lebanon was included.
