Over several months, Walt Disney World Resort upgraded fixtures, textiles, and furnishings throughout the iconic Victorian Disney Resort hotel lobby, and replaced the ornate golden birdcage with a birdcage-shaped bar. The Perch lobby bar is the first of its kind at any of the Central Florida Disney Resort hotels.Credit: DisneyThe Perch opened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on November 10, wrapping up much of the construction in the hotel lobby. However, the annual life-sized gingerbread house display was canceled last year as crews put the finishing touches on the rethemed Disney Resort area.Now, months after the modernized lobby debuted, Walt Disney Imagineers are sharing a behind-the-scenes look at a secret special effect at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.New Easter Egg at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & SpaCredit: DisneyAs part of the lobby reimagining, Walt Disney Imagineers installed a trinket-filled curio cabinet in the hotel common area. The cabinet is full of small tchotchkes inspired by Disney properties, like Aladdin (1992), Cinderella (1950), and Beauty and the Beast (1991).However, inside the cabinet is also a small treasure chest, full of golden coins and one of the most special glass bottles on earth.
