Beating a handful of useful horses who have won since, including Cheltenham Festival winner Supremely West. However, Hot Fuss looks like the pick of the bunch here. He comes here after finishing a close second in the Martin Pipe despite being badly hampered on the run-in. He has solid form in the book, as two starts ago at Windsor, he comfortably beat the County Hurdle winner, Wilful.Providing he gets a smoother passage here, Hot Fuss has the form to get back into the winners’ enclosure.3.30 Aintree – Heart WoodGrey Dawning was impressive in the Gold Cup when plucking on to finish fourth. He drops down in trip here to 2m4f, but he’s just as effective over this distance as he is a former Grade 1 winner at the trip. However, preference here goes to Heart Wood, who was last seen winning the Ryanair in emphatic fashion by ten lengths at the Cheltenham Festival. He’s been in good form all season, winning two Grade 2s in Ireland as well, and finishing fourth behind the Gold Cup winner, Gaelic Warrior, in the Grade 1 John Durkan. He’s a specialist at the distance, and he should prove too tough to peg back here.Multiple Grade 1 winner Solness looks a threat if back to his best after a disappointing effort at Leopardstown. He can be excused for that effort as the ground conditions were less than ideal; back on a sounder surface, he should pose a threat.4.05 Aintree – Gentleman De MeeDan Skelton’s gelding, Madara, has improved drastically this season and was last seen winning the Plate Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. That was a flashy performance and it suggests that Skelton’s gelding is capable of achieving back-to-back wins. However, with the quirky nature of the fences at Topham, experience over them can be vital.Last year’s winner, Gentleman De Mee, has that all-important experience over these fences. He’s been running well all season in some pretty competitive graded races. This race, however, looks like his obvious target and he’s only 3lbs higher, which shouldn’t stop him.talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 on racing get £25 in free betsVisit talkSPORT BET for all the latest horse racing betting odds*all odds correct at time of writing and subject to change18+ New Customers.
