According to new data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), the number of unemployed persons stood at 1,302 at February of this year, an increase of 227 from February 2025.The largest registered rise in unemployment occurred in those registered for under 21 weeks, with an increase of 142 whereas a decrease of one person was noted for those registered for over one year. Males make up 66.4% of the unemployed individuals, amounting to 864 individuals and females make up 438 individuals, the remaining 33.6%. Other demographic data shows that registered unemployment increase in all groups, but the most significant rise was recorded amongst the age group between 30-44 years old.The numbers of persons with disabilities registering for work stayed the same at 220, with a majority of this being males, standing at 68.2% of this group.What do you make of these figures? •
