Juddmonte’s Publish Ruled Out of 2,000 Guineas

Wait 5 sec.

The 2,000 Guineas has been dealt another blow with the news that Publish (Kingman) has been ruled out of the Classic with lameness. On Thursday, the champion two-year-old Gewan (Night Of Thunder) was fatally injured during a racecourse gallop at Kempton.A statement released on Friday morning by Publish's owner Juddmonte read, “Unfortunately, Publish was found to be lame yesterday. Early indication has suggested he will need a number of weeks out of work, which means he will not be ready for early season targets. “A further veterinary examination will be required to determine when he will get back to the racecourse.”Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the homebred colt is out of the Grade II-winning No Nay Never mare Nay Lady Nay. Second on debut last July, Publish returned to Sandown three weeks later to win a seven-furlong novice event before finishing runner-up to Bow Echo (Night Of Thunder) in the Listed Ascendant Stakes at Haydock. The George Boughey-trained Bow Echo, who then went on to beat the Chesham winner Humidity (Ulysses) when winning the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes, is now clear favourite for the 2,000 Guineas on May 2. Last week, Richard Brown revealed to TDN that Wathnan Racing's Humidity has had a setback in training which means he will not be aimed towards the Derby. The post Juddmonte’s Publish Ruled Out of 2,000 Guineas appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
