Five killed, pedestrian injured in separate late-night road accidents in Telangana

Five persons, including two engineering students, were killed and one sustained serious injuries in two separate road accidents reported late on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) night in different parts of the State.In the first incident, two engineering students were run over by a speeding car on Sagar Road in Vanasthalipuram Police Station limits at around 11.40 p.m.The deceased were identified as 22-year-old K. Shiva and 19-year-old Sandeep Joel, both students of Mahaveer Institute of Science and Technology in Bandlaguda and residents of Santosh Nagar. The injured was identified as 23-year-old Sridhar, a pedestrian, who is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital.According to the police, Shiva and Sandeep were travelling on a motorcycle while Sridhar was crossing the road at the time of the accident.All three were hit by a car — the driver of which fled the scene immediately after the incident. The exact sequence of events is yet to be established, and investigators are examining CCTV camera footage from the area.The police said the vehicle involved and the driver have been identified, and efforts are under way to apprehend the accused.In a separate incident earlier in the night, three persons were killed on the spot in Kamareddy district when the motorcycle they were travelling on rammed into a lorry from behind. The accident occurred in Madnoor mandal on the Degloor–Hyderabad road around 10.15 p.m.The victims were identified as 24-year-old M. Ashok, 48-year-old K. Nagu, and 17-year-old K. Sachin, all of whom worked as labourers in Madnoor. They were travelling from Madnoor to Bichkunda when their motorcycle crashed into a parked lorry, resulting in their instant deaths.
