The Tamil Nadu Government Officials Union on Saturday appealed to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to hike Dearness Allowance (DA) for State government employees by 3%, which would mean that DA increased from 55% to 58% of basic pay. In a letter to Mr. Stalin, the union’s State president T. Amirthakumar said the Centre had approved a 3% hike in DA. “I appeal to Chief Minister Stalin to hike the Dearness Allowance for State government employees, teachers, pensioners, family pensions, special time scale pay employees, and those on consolidated pay from July 1, 2025,” he said. Mr. Amirthakumar added that if the hike was effected immediately, it would encourage government employees to work harder, and it would be useful during the Deepavali season.Published - October 05, 2025 01:10 am IST
