He admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving last year and got a year’s road ban from Blackburn JPs. He now faces a separate civil suit. Mr Fielding, 29, previously told how he had suffered almost two years of constant pain. He spent two weeks in hospital with a broken left leg and needed surgery to insert rods. The accident meant he lost his physically demanding job, his social life and changed his relationship as his girlfriend became his carer. Mr Fielding, who worked for Screwfix, is represented by personal injury firm Minster Law. It is not clear how much Butt may have to pay. He has apologised and says he thinks about the crash daily. High Court papers seen by The Sun show the two sides disagree on the facts of the case. Crash victims generally have three years to make a civil claim, so Mr Fielding has filed weeks before the deadline. A judge must make a number of rulings before a trial on whether Butt is liable to pay damages. His rep was asked to comment.
