CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology’s (CCMB) Chief Scientist and group leader, and in-charge of LaCONES - Laboratory for Conservation of Endangered Species, Govindswamy Umapathy, has been elected as the Fellow of National Academy of Sciences 2025.After completing M.Sc. Wildlife Science from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Mr. Umapathy received Ph.D. from Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, Coimbatore (1998). He joined CCMB in 2000 and was involved in setting up LaCONES.He is also a professor at the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi, and an adjunct faculty at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, IISc Campus, Bangalore, India, as per a press release issued on Friday (October 3, 2025).Published - October 03, 2025 04:22 pm IST
