Man held for stabbing shopkeeper to death in Faridabad

The victim, Praveen, was allegedly stabbed to death by Raja following an altercation on the night of second October, police said.As per the complaint filed by Jagdish (60), the father of the deceased and a resident of Sunrise Colony, Praveen ran a paneer shop in Baselwa Colony.Police said the incident occurred on Thursday, between 10 and 11 pm, while Praveen was returning home with his employee, Dharmendra. While purchasing items at a store near Gali Number 6 in Baselwa Colony, Praveen reportedly got into an argument with Raja and others. The confrontation escalated into a physical assault, during which Raja allegedly stabbed Praveen in the chest, resulting in his death, officers said.A case has been registered at Old Faridabad police station under charges of murder and assault, officers added.“During questioning, it was revealed that Raja and his accomplice were smoking cigarettes near a general store when the altercation with Praveen occurred, leading to the fatal attack. Raja, a known criminal with 12–13 prior cases, is listed as a ‘bad character’ (BC) by the Old Faridabad police station. He was released from jail in May this year,” an officer said.Story continues below this adIn a similar case in July, a 28-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death during an altercation between two groups in East Delhi’s Ghazipur. The police arrested three men in connection with the murder.The deceased in that case was identified as Vikas Walchera, a resident of Faridabad who worked as a sales manager at a Noida-based firm. Police said they received a call at around 11 pm from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, informing them that a man had been brought in dead with multiple injuries.
